Preservation Issues |
| Mapes Hotel in Reno: imploded on January
29th despite the best efforts of people and organization. The Truckee
Meadows Heritage Trust did everything possible to save this structure. |
| The 1936 Bethesda Hospital
in Melbourne,
AZ led by the Society Art Deco Victoria, has been saved. The
first proposal which included demolition, was rejected by the Civil Administrative
Tribunal. Another proposal hopes to preserve the original Deco hospital. |
| Historic fixtures were ripped from Bullocks
Wiltshire. |
| Art Deco Society of New York reports that rooms and decorative features
on floors 67-70 have been substantially destroyed of the 1928 Chrysler
Building. This includes the famous Cloud Club, Walter Chrysler suite,
and other vintage spaces. The black glass lined walls, which depicted
silhouettes of auto workers and other murals are gone. Original furnishings,
lighting and decorative features have vanished. The Bavarian Bar on the
66th floor is still there but in imminent danger. The landmark building
is owned by Tishman-Speyer Properties. Letters of protest are sought
by the ADSNY. |

church was constructed in 1928.
Letters of support are needed. |
